Abstract :
Cascaded Integrated Comb (CIC) filters are mainly used as low pass filter in rate converter module in a multi rate signal processing based systems. Hardware implementation of CIC filter is very efficient as it does not require any multiplier and uses very less memory. The paper presents the FPGA implementation of modified Cascaded Integrated Comb (CIC) filter for satellite communication system. The realized modified filter offers more stop band attenuation than conventional CIC filter. A look up table is developed for calculation of parameters of modified CIC filter, depending on the attenuation requirements. Paper highlighted the design and hardware realization of modified CIC filter. The filter is realized on Xilinx platform. Along with the performance, comparison results of developed filter with conventional CIC filter is also presented. The real time results verified that modified CIC filter has more stop band attenuation and less pass band droop.
