Abstract :
SOA can be considered as one of the most influential trends in recent years. SOA puts forth two basic ideas: (1) to develop software as a service and (2) to handle legacy applications and artefacts using standardized technology, exposing their functionalities as services. Web services is the most famous technology to implement SOA concepts allowing services to be exposed in a homogeneous way and to be discovered by means of a standardized mechanism. Since information systems contain very important assets, such as relational databases and software applications accessing these databases, it is important to provide a mechanism to enable SOA migration for these kinds of artefacts In this PhD thesis we propose a process composed of two sub-processes: the first to extract and build services from relational databases and the second to detect, in software applications, services based on original features from the software accessing the database.
