Abstract :
Research efforts have been made to design optimal sensor placement schemes. This paper focuses on balancing the energy consumption of each node by distance adjusting to maximize the lifetime of a linear wireless sensor network (WSN). A distance-based energy efficient sensor placement (DBEEP) strategy is proposed for lifetime maximization. The relations of adjusted distance, communication range, network radius and the number of nodes are studied in this paper, on which the network can be jointly optimized to satisfy different demands. In simulations, we demonstrate that the energy consumption on DBEEP strategy is much less than the other strategies. And the network lives 157% longer using the DBEEP strategy than using the equal distance placement. The relations of the adjusted distance, node density and network radius are also given in the simulations.
