Abstract :
This paper focuses on the product line approach to weapon systems acquisition and its key features. We emphasize open systems and architectures and the development environment to support the approach. We discuss examples where this approach has produced outstanding results, and we summarize findings that should encourage senior executives and program managers to embrace the concept
