Abstract
The authors present a model for visualizing large collections of documents in World Wide Web retrieval, independently of the retrieval system. Their proposal allows one to ease the use of visualization tools which partially solve the problem of data overload on the Internet. They present a specific software architecture to separate the user interface from the retrieval system and its current implementation in Java, including the bookpile visual metaphor
