Abstract :
This article describes various methods for measuring water pollution levels in lakes and rivers and the possibility of automating these procedure. The authors describe the LILY station which is a shore station suitable for small rivers or rain water collectors. They also describe LILYPAD which is a semi immerged platform which can be deployed anywhere in the middle of a lake or river. LILYPAD is equipped with a vertical profiler to provide a picture of the water column ecological balance. The design considerations and features of both of these systems are described
