Abstract
Implementation of a control networks will induce time varying or stochastic time delays that inevitably degrade performance and could be a source of instability to networked control systems. The interaction of the control networks and timing characteristics should be investigated in order to more effectively utilize the networked control systems. In this paper, a detailed discussion of the characteristics of each protocol for three type control networks is provided. For each protocol, the key timing characteristics of control networks, which include blocking time, frame time, and propagation time, are presented, and the timing equations of each time type for control networks are derived. Finally the simulations are carried out, and the analysis conclusions of timing characteristics in this paper are verified by the simulation results.
