Abstract
The problem of open sea measurement as compared with on-land operation is impeded by the lack of the fixed physical point to which an instrument can be attached. It is particularly important for gravity observations. The case is complicated by impossibility to discern gravity and acceleration forces. The obviously solution is to create a platform as stable as possible and to measure its residual movements with possible accuracy. The paper is intended to show the potential properties of autonomous underwater devices-AUVs-and vertically stabilized drifting buoys in gravity survey applications
