Abstract :
Fluid-flexible-structure-interaction is a challenging problem in fluid dynamics that is not well understood, due to the highly complicated nature of the problem. Vortex motion plays a central role in such interaction. In this paper we visualize the vortex shedding from a flexible plate tethered at its midline in a viscous incompressible flow in three dimensions. By arranging visualized features along the time line, or by simulations settings, the proposed visualization design aims to simultaneously investigate multiple simulation output flow patterns in 3D time-dependent fields. As a result, a series of visualizations are produced and facilitating a greater understanding of the fluid-flexible-structure-interaction.
