Abstract
In this paper, the long-term dynamic of a market interconnection is studied and analyzed through a bottom-up simulation model. The model has been developed using concepts and tools of System Dynamics and it consists of two electricity markets linked by a merchant DC transmission line. Two different energy scenarios are studied: a situation of gas price spike and an energy saving scenario. The model shows the influence of the exogenous conditions in the structure of the generation installed capacity and the consequent effects on the average spot prices and reliability indices.
