Abstract :
Noise increase is a serious drawback in the dual energy window scatter correction approach. The authors have minimized this problem by isolating the scatter component of the acquired events in the high energy window and applying optimized smoothing filters. An almost noiseless scatter correction was achieved. The impact of detector normalization on the noise was investigated and minimal effect was observed. Finally, the scatter distribution was observed to vary noticeably as a function of polar angle
