  • Abstract
This paper focuses on a high-mobility packet-based communication system with over 20 Mbps, particularly using the OFDM format already standardized by the IEEE 802.11 project. To realize such system, robust schemes against the time-varying fading channel due to high Doppler is needed. We thus propose the method of updating channel state information (CSI), in addition to that of updating estimated channel frequency response, with the scheme that detects channel frequency response calculated from the subchannel degraded by ISI and noise. The performance of the packet transmission scheme using the proposed method is evaluated from several aspects using packet error rate (PER) by computer simulation. Computer simulation results show that by the proposed method the performance dramatically improves in comparison with conventional methods on long packet transmission in high Doppler multipath fading channel.
