Abstract :
Mastering the skills in solving word problems is one of the important goals in elementary mathematics education; however, word problems are sometimes difficult for students, resulting in frustration. In this study, the authors design a small game, called Down! Down! Irised Boxes. When students make their effort to solve word problems, they can also interact with the game. The game transforms students´ performance into interesting feedbacks in order to enhance students´ motivation for solving word problems.
