Abstract :
A self-coherent optically-sampled analog-to-digital converter (ADC) using an I/Q optical hybrid coupler is experimentally demonstrated. It leverages practical, commercially available components and is used for high-resolution under-sampling with up to 20GHz carrier frequencies. The ADC resolution is 8.7 effective bits for a 10GHz carrier frequency.
