Abstract :
Let me have the pleasure of welcoming you to an exciting technical program in DSN ´11, following in the lines of the long tradition of stellar technical accomplishments that DSN (and previously, its precursor, FTCS) has had in its 41 year old history. This year, we selected 26 papers out of a total of 148 submissions, giving an acceptance rate of 17.6%. One of these papers is a Practical Experience Report and one is a Tool Description/Demo. The accepted papers cover the a wide variety of topics, within the broad ambit of dependability, with the leading topics being security (6; 23%), distributed system or application software fault tolerance (6; 23%), and hardware (5; 19.2%). The accepted papers also show a heartening geographical spread with 16 papers having some US participation, 10 with some European participation, and 5 with some Asian participation; 7 of the accepted papers had some non-academic authors.
