Abstract :
In recent years, due to the rapid development of sensor and communication technologies, wireless sensor networks have been widely used in many applications such as environmental monitoring, military and smart home. In a wireless sensor network, the node devices are confined to the equipments for their power, memory and computing capability. Therefore, the key issues in designing routing protocols for this network type are power consumption and computation cost. In this paper we investigate various issues in routing protocols, network topologies, packet retransmissions, and topology reconstructions. We proposed a routing protocol with path redundancy, low power consumption, and with backup mechanism to prolong the life of the sensor network. We also conduct some experiments to show the effect of the proposed protocol.
