Within the Italian Program for Researches in Antarctica, a project aimed at developing a autonomous underwater robot was launched, SARA (Sottomarino Autonomo Robotizzato Antartico) will perform a number of missions in support of oceanography, glaciology, and biology, and constitute a platform in view of different applications, such as environmental survey and underwater plants inspection
