Abstract
Instability and chaos in a current-mode controlled Cuk converter is studied. The analysis begins with the derivation of a fourth-order iterative map that describes the dynamic operation of the circuit. Using this map, instability pertaining to current-mode control is shown to be related to a route to chaos similar to that from a tent-map. Computer simulations based on an exact piece-wise switched model and experimental measurements confirm the predicted phenomena
