Abstract :
A miniature dielectric loaded folded half-loop antenna, which has only half the length of a dielectric loaded loop antenna, is introduced. The proposed antenna is designed on a mobile terminal to operate at 5.2GHz for the IEEE802.11a wireless system. The return loss and radiation patterns of the antenna are accessed using both a Finite Integration Technique (FIT) simulations and experimental measurements. It is found that the ground plane is acting as a reflector to the antenna. Therefore, this proposed antenna is not much detuned when it is in different locations and orientations on the ground plane.
