  • Abstract
The compressive load bearing properties of articular cartilage depend on the cartilage-synovial fluid interaction. In freshly slaughtered bovine knee joints, proteoglycan and uronic acid contents in cartilage and synovial fluid hyaluronic acid, protein and acid phosphatase have been studied. The inter-dependence of biochemical parameters in cartilage and synovial fluid and its role for biomechanical health of the cartilage is discussed
