Title :
Comparing UWB GPR measurements and simulation of simple shaped buried targets

Abstract :
This paper presents initial investigations to compare ultra wide band (UWB) ground penetrating radar (GPR) data with predicted data for simple shaped buried targets. The data is analysed in the form of so-called Cscans. The comparison shows good agreement for the simple case of a metallic sphere in air. For the case of a buried metallic sphere in sand the prediction result is not satisfactory. From the measurements of a metallic and a pure plastic sphere, clearly different features show up in the Cscans
