Abstract :
This paper investigates the pertinent concepts centric to electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) battery value. The factors that contribute to battery degradation, and thus devaluation, are examined. While a battery may no longer be useful in a vehicle, this does not mean the battery can no longer be used in other applications. Four strategies for alternative uses of battery packs are discussed. Finally, a simplified analysis of battery value over time is presented.
