Abstract
A new approach to absolute moment Block Truncation Coding in the DCT domain to remove interblock redundancy is proposed. The result of applying adaptive DCT to the absolute moment BTC outputs is investigated and simulation results show that its performance is comparable to the BTC-VQ and better visual quality can be achieved if the adaptive DCT is applied to the high-mean and low-mean subimages instead of the bit-maps
