Abstract :
In this paper we explore several different quality assessment tests for images. The scenario is such that wireless sensors are transmitting images to a Base Station for processing purposes. For energy conservation purposes, the sensors would like to reduce bandwidth. Hence they get directions concerning overlap between images thereby allowing them to reduce transmissions. The problem that arises is the situation of false positives - i.e. the Base Station is saying there is overlap when in reality there is none. Thus some information must be periodically transmitted to the Base Station by the sensors in order to allow the Base Station to assess the quality of the image that is reconstructed. Here we discuss a number of different quality assessment test and provide results of some simulation experiments we have conducted on the different tests.
