Abstract
Comparing the new punching machine driven by linear induction motor (LlM) with its traditional form, the new machine has many great advantages, such as, simple construction, small size and weight, low production cost, short production time, easy to control, low noise and considerable energy saving. This paper introduces basic construction of new punching machine, then the LIM and it´s control system design are discussed. After that a dynamic model is erected by pole by pole theory allowing to consider longitudinal effect, the transient performance is obtained and punching force can be derived correctly. The simulation result is verified by experimental result. Finally the test system and test results of 10 kN punching machine are described. As a result, it is possible for the new punching machine to replace a mechanical punch with small tonnage in some applications.
