Abstract :
The use of relay nodes in future wireless networks significantly enhances the system capacity and achieves spatial diversity; however, relaying in degraded channel conditions may not be favorable. Hence, relay selection is a major area for research. This paper aims to optimize the channel capacity of a relay network by choosing an optimal relay, following hybrid forwarding protocol, based on adaptive selection. The main contribution of this paper is the Adaptive Relay Table (ART) algorithm, which intelligently utilizes the instantaneous channel state information (CSI) for the selection. Several characteristics are established to replicate a realistic scenario.
