Abstract :
This paper presents a patented starter solution for single-phase induction motors used in compressor applications. Today, solutions use PTC resistors that produce high losses in stand-by after motor start-up. The new electronic solution presented here allows the stand-by losses to be reduced from typically 2.5 W to less than 0.4 W. Electromagnetic immunity and reliability performances of this solution are also discussed
