Abstract :
This paper proposes a simple, fast and accurate method to obtain a good estimation of the total radiated power of mobile phones in anechoic chambers. This method is based on the evaluation of the 2-D partial radiated power, in one or two cut-planes of the classical measurement sphere. From a set of 30 mobile phones, it is shown that this 2-D multi-cut approach can give a reliable estimation of the full 3-D radiated power. In fact, less than 0.2 dB error can be obtained in both GSM, DCS and PCS bands, with only two well-chosen orthogonal cut-planes.
