Abstract :
3-D pattern measurement in anechoic rooms is now widely used for evaluating mobile phones radiated performances. The preferred parameter in the reception mode is the total radiated sensitivity (TRS). The TRS is in fact the main topic of this paper, which proposes approaches to speed up the evaluation of this quantity in anechoic rooms. Based on the estimation of the point sensitivity from specific network parameters, the fastest of the proposed methods allows to assess the TRS in about 30 minutes for 2G terminals, and 50 minutes for 3G. First experimental results show an encouraging maximal deviation of 0.6 dB between the TRS evaluated with the fast 3-D approach and the standard technique.
