  • Abstract
Wireless sensors are being used in a wide range of applications for monitoring, data acquisition and remote control of the processes. While some of these sensors are equipped with wireless interfaces conforming to popular standards like Wi-Fi, BlueTooth, ZigBee, HiperLan etc., some of them are with less-known standards or without any governing standard but conforming to FCC regulations of power and bandwidth usage for their operation in ISM bands. This leads to a situation where transmissions from different-sensors operating in ISM bands could cause Interference to each other. Of these the well-known type of interference is between BlueTooth and Wi-Fi devices, and some techniques like adaptive frequency hopping (AFH), packet fragmentation, dynamic scheduling etc., were proposed to deal with this problem. But for the frequency-hopping devices like BlueTooth, inter-piconet interference also plays a prominent role. The interference phenomenon for BlueTooth sensors used for high-speed data acquisition applications is considered here to find the system performance in the presence of various types of interferences like WiFi, inter-piconet interference and other types of interferences.
