Abstract
Mechanism of charge production and its persistent in polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and their polyblend films have been analysed using short circuit thermally stimulated discharge current (TSDC) technique as a function of electrode metal with constant polarizing field (3.5×104 volts/cm) and polarizing temperature (70°C). The TSDC spectra of PMMA consist of a sharp peak around 155-170°C, for Al-Ag/Cu systems, however. The TSDC spectra of PVP and polyblend films have been found to be characterized with two peaks located around 90-100°C and 140-160°C along with an additional current maxima which has been found around 205±50° C in a direction which is opposite to both the peaks. The observed polarization is explained in terms of existence of hetero charge due to dipole orientation and detrapping of charges injected from the electrodes with subsequent space-charge formation
