Abstract :
Intelligent tutor for Telugu language learning - INTTELL is based on cognitive psychology in human computer interaction. Generally human tutor makes use of wide range of input and output modalities such as speech, vision, gaze and gesture. Computer tutors are typically limited to keyboard and mouse input. Speech offers a powerful avenue between user and computer system. This improved INTTELL uses automated speech recognition (ASR) technology to listen to users and help them how to read and write Telugu language. Sphinx III speech recognition is used to train the system to recognize Telugu alphabets (16 vowels, 37 consonants), words (two letter and three letters) and sentences. Flash macromedia is used to create/write-animated characters, words with corresponding pictures to effective learning. Intelligent tutor speaks through speech synthesis system. This software is developed for adult education. This can be used for foreign language learning, spoken aid for hearing impaired along with articulary movement display.
