            Abstract :
A new hybrid search scheme for the initial acquisition of a long spread spectrum code composed of shorter concatenated signature codes is introduced. The new search scheme inherently contains a verification mode, thus eliminating the need of a separate verification process. We introduce a new concatenated signature coding and a new parallel acquisition scheme. Simulation results of the performance of the scheme in a multiple access environment is also presented
