Abstract
This paper attempts to explain the engineering education system in India and need for Institute-Industry Collaboration. The different parameters to assess the effectiveness of Institute-Industry Collaboration have been identified. The effectiveness of various types of Institute-Industry Collaboration is assessed. A methodology to improve the effectiveness is suggested. It is concluded that for effective Institute-Industry Collaboration in higher engineering educational institutions, a dedicated organization mechanism has to be established that coordinates and liaises among institutional sectors.
