Abstract :
Engineering education is rapidly becoming globalized in the modern world. Appropriate language skills of faculty and students are required for successful internationalization. BRICS states demonstrate high demand for world-class engineering education offered by the countries hosting the Top-100 world universities in North America and Western Europe. Efforts focused on eliminating language barriers can significantly increase the number of the users of STEM education services offered by various engineering universities. This contribution represents an original analysis of the internationalization efforts of a Russian National Research University with the focus on engineering programs. A lifelong language learning environment concept is offered as a tool to increase the number of faculty and students involved in engineering education. American and Asia-Pacific universities were selected for the analysis as the internationalization partners due to intensive collaboration in education and science with top universities in Russia and detailed statistics available.
