Abstract :
Medical video transmission with proper perceived quality is vital for applications in the domain of remote surgery, diagnosis, treatment and health-related education. Video transmission over wired and wireless networks can introduce delays and improper content delivery. Scalable video coding (SVC) is considered as an appropriate solution for overcoming such transmission. This paper introduces an advanced medical video transmission platform based on temporal and spatial H.264 scalable compression. The efficiency and effectiveness of the presented platform are demonstrated by experimental results.
