Abstract :
Online insurance is the tendency of the insurance marketing method, but the development of China´s online insurance is still at a relatively primary stage, even lacking a clear and objective understanding towards the online insurance market potential. Considering the importance of the market potential in the development of online insurance, this paper proposes a method based on data distribution fitting to estimate the market potential of China´s online insurance in 2007, and finds that about 3% of the policy-holder may purchase insurance through the internet. This paper also estimates the market potential in 2004 in the same way, discovering China´s online insurance market potential increases by 4 times over just three years. It shows great potential for online insurance in China, and the online insurance will be developed rapidly in the near future.
