Abstract :
The open water flow models in control design are reviewed as well as the control methodologies. Traditionally, the open flow dynamics are described by Saint Venant equations, two coupled partial differential equations. Dicretization and linearization approaches are proceeded on the equations with some assumptions and the resulted simple models are employed for control design. The difficulty in determination of the parameters in Saint Venant equations remains in the simplified models. Recently, some data-driving models are proposed for flow dynamics control. In these models, the parameters are identified with real data. Based on these models, two kinds of control techniques: optimal control and PI control are the most popular.
