  • Abstract
This paper presents an approach to the detection of harmonics and reactive currents in single-phase circuit according to the orthogonal characteristic of sine function. The method is simple and practical, which cannot only detect the current component in the distorted current but can also obtain the sum of the active and reactive current. Meanwhile, the presented method possesses fine digital filtering characteristics, and has better qualities in real-time and dynamic response characteristics in comparison with the harmonics detection through the simulated low pass filter. The MATLAB simulation studies illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method
