  • Abstract
Presents a fuzzy reasoning approach for ECG beat and rhythm detection and classification. Linguistic variables are used to represent beat features and fuzzy conditional statements perform reasoning. Five beat types and more than 20 arrhythmias were considered. The method performed well when evaluated with the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database. It conveniently summarizes and makes use of medical knowledge and diagnostic rules, and has promise for more complicated clinical applications such as multi-parameter intelligent patient monitoring systems
