Abstract :
Cognizing radio environment is important for secondary users in cognitive radio networks. Interference temperature, routing scheme and other important issues are attained from the the radio environment over a specific region. One of the important features is the variogram of primary users´ signal strength. The theory of optimum experimental design (OED) is introduced to determine the optimal sensing locations to estimate the spectrum variogram. OED method can circumvent the exhaustive sensing over the whole spatial region. The estimation performance is demonstrated to outperform the scheme of random deployment of sensors.
