Abstract
In this paper, the performance of the dipole diamond antenna above three EBGs with different element width and gap sizes but with the same resonance frequencies is investigated. The antenna on the EBG was fabricated and measured return loss and gain are presented. It is shown that changing the element and gap sizes simultaneously affect both return loss and radiation pattern. By increasing the element and gap sizes the return loss degrades. However the radiation pattern has better performance.
