Abstract
In this manuscript we examine the possibility of using Low Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes as cryptographic primitive in a Public-Key Cryptosystem (PKC). The designed cryptosystem is based on a modified McEliece scheme and provides for combined reliability and security within one combined algorithm. A model for evaluating its security is then presented. Result shows that our new cryptosystem is at least theoretically more secure than the original McEliece PKC.
