Abstract :
An integrated system composed of an application software and a hardware unit to remotely monitor and control a solar energy utility was designed, implemented, and installed. Currently, it is desired to obtain real-time measurements of heated water temperature, heated water level in the reservoir, and consumed heated water from current solar energy installations to be monitored at a management office and customer support department. In addition, command and control of some auxiliary subsystems of the solar energy utility is convenient for this purpose. The hardware unit is installed at the remote utility (solar power water heater at the present), while the application software is installed on a PC/laptop at the company premises. The cellular network is utilized to access the remote unit from anywhere in the globe covered by the cellular network for data retrieval or command of essential components of the solar power utility.
