Abstract
The use of Golay Complementary Pairs to synchronize a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel is presented in this paper. The Golay code´s correlation properties make it ideal for this purpose. Golay codes have been used for synchronization before and has also been suggested for possible use in MIMO channels. However we have not seen it implemented and physically tested in the past. This paper shows the generation, simulation and implementation of such a code scheme on field programmable gate array (FPGA) and investigates it´s performance on a MIMO channel. The results show excellent correlation of better than 90dB and almost perfect synchronization hence confirming that Golay codes or its complementary pair is a good candidate for MIMO synchronization.
