Abstract
A novel system for ECG Telemedicine and Telecare is presented. It exhibits a low cost performance ratio and thus can provide advanced telemedicine services in remote or isolated areas. It can be used as a fundamental telemedicine platform, offering essential medical services, allowing a referred physician from far away to offer assistance without traveling to the referred medical site. The communication infrastructure used covers a wide range of media including public switched telephone network and cellular networks. The system is open with respect to the hardware it uses. The system is also open to Generalized Hospital Information Systems due to its DICOM compliance
