Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an e-Experiment system for automatic control education and research (ESACER) that provides a platform for online experiment of undergraduate and graduate students. A common concept of this e-experiment system has been provided and some characteristics have been concluded. To achieve this system, we established a remote control laboratory based on the internet with hybrid architecture of browser/server and client/server. By accessing the laboratory website, learners can do the control theory experiments on real equipments, such as inverted pendulum, flexible inverted pendulum, three degree of freedom helicopter and ball & beam system. Finally, this experiment system has been used in Beijing Institute of Technology for control theory course education of graduate students since 2005, the questionnaire shows that this e-experiment system is positive and satisfied.
