Abstract
The authors studied the use of automated ECG injury scores in the prediction of the myocardial injury size during the course of an acute ischemic event. The study population consisted of 279 consecutive patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Log CK-MB correlated with the maximal Selvester QRS score (r=0.35, p<0.001) and with the maximal modified Aldrich ST elevation score (r=0.44, p<0.001). At admission the QRS score correlated with log CK-MB (r=0.18, p=0.003), but the ST elevation score was already more predictive for the forthcoming CK-MB leakage (r=0.41, p<0.001). It is concluded that in unselected patients with suspected AMI, the magnitude of the forthcoming myocardial injury size can be predicted from the automated admission ECG
