Abstract :
Static control programs in the disk drive industry have resulted in higher yields and profits, as they have done in many other industries. Despite the problems of utilizing magnetoresistive (MR) heads, they are rapidly becoming the standard in the disk drive industry. The need for static control is more critical as MR heads become the primary means for increased data density. Meeting the static control needs of the disk drive industry will likely require more sophisticated static control products than those designed for semiconductors, and other parts of the electronics industry.
