Abstract
In this paper, a comparative view of the behaviour of different IGBT and MCT zero current switching (ZCS) is presented. The calculation of the loss components of a three-phase AC link power converter shows that a substantial reduction of the required devices or losses is possible if reverse blocking NPT-IGBTs or MCTs are used
